If you think about it, a lawyer and a philosopher are actually quite similar. However, most lawyers don't realize that embracing philosopher's characteristics would benefit them greatly. This article aspires to reveal the similarities between a lawyer and philosopher.
A philosopher and a lawyer both defend their stance; despite the victim's or culprit's side. This is a major similarity as both lawyers and philosophers need to collect as much evidence as possible and interpret this evidence to be in favor of their stance.
However, I believe that a lawyer should strive to be a philosopher because if we look back at history, we can see that a philosopher is more sophisticated and civilized than a lawyer is. To a further extent, philosophy is a more aged subject than the law. And because philosopher uses his or her mind more frequent than the lawyer.
Another similarity is interpretation. Both philosophers and lawyers have interpretational power of any merits. Both can interpret any subject into an entirely different point of view. Plato and Buddha interpreted that the human world is always on the flow of changing, but the latter philosopher says that the world is real.
A lawyer should aspire to be like a philosopher because a philosopher has unlimited endurance and inspiration to go to the core and theme of problems that everyone can relate to. This is the most solid argument and it is really hard to fight back.
